It's TOOL, Baby....

It's well established that here at MEAT, we love the 90's.

Now, there is something to love about all decades but the early 90's has a particular charm. The music, clothes and attitude all culminate in this arsey, cool yet emotionally cutting indifference... one can just not, NOT be attracted to it (BTW, I'm embracing that double negative.. it would be the 90's thing to do.)

Two nights ago, I saw Tool play in Melbourne. They are definitely one of those bands that have a big fat 90's stamp all over them. Needless to say, to see them live was seriously amaze but being surround by all those die hard super fans in their band T-shirts, it dawned in me that Tool also has some seriously 90's, dark, almost psychedelic artwork/graphics that I have totally missed. This needs to be explored....

Tool's guitarist Adam Jones one is responsible for most of the the bands arty concepts and has worked with artist such as Cam de Leon and Alex Grey to created some of the band most brilliant t-shirt worthy genius. (Actually, it turns out that Tool have won Grammys for artwork and packaging but lets be honest, it's all about the T-shirt.)

It's Tool, baby... so go get Aenima on and crank it up to LOUD... that way, you can totally rock your day away!!

On a side note: Having just started learning the drums this year... I can officially say that Danny Carey is my new obsession.

The Day After..

You know it has been a good weekend when you can list the following:
  • a scorching hot dumpling lunch
  • cocktails
  • afternoon power ballad karaoke at happy rainbow karaoke rooms
  • more cocktails
  • roof top laughs
  • scoring an amazing $7 jacket
  • another drink or two
  • brunch with long lost friends
  • honey joys
  • and TOOL, BABY (more on this tomoz)
Now the week is here and after all that weekend joy, I know it's going to be a let down.... :(

Back to reality... as boring as that can be.

Stark Lines - Bold Space

With all the graphic and optical goodies that the catwalk is offering lately, it's easy to forget that inspiration can come from anywhere. Take a look at these breathtakingly beautiful and hauntingly stark images by LA based photographer Nicholas Alan Cope.

If only I could pull an outfit together that was as minimally cool and hard edged as these images... It would make me a very happy girl.

This all just makes me want to get out my camera and explore.

The Right Angle

I will let you in on a little secret... when I sit at a desk, I need to have all the things on that desk in line.

A mish mosh of stuff all over my desk is totally distracting. If I need to get some proper work done, the angles have to be in line, straight and complimenting each other. Ha, ha.. I do realise this makes me sound like some sort of OCD mental but the eye likes what the eye likes and there is nothing I can do about it.

Knowing this you can totally understand why I am loving these delicious images from the current Pop Magazine. All those lines in their angular glory... gotta love it!

The Coolest Girl In Town - Chrissy Amphlett

Totally heartbroken yesterday when I heard that the amazingly raw, gutsy and beautiful Chrissy Amphlett had passed away. Her perfectly gravelly voice is one the most distinctive sounds of my childhood and her cool, kick ass, rocking attitude was definitely a massive influence in my teens. She is what you wanted to hear when you were getting ready for a big night out and who you wanted to be as cool as when you grew up.

RIP  Chrissy Amphlett - You are a legend and truly the most amazing woman.

The good die young...
